Producer's Notes from the CD booklet by Marilee Bradford, Bradley Flanagan, and John Fricke:

"The premiere release of the original soundtrack album to M-G-M's For Me And My Gal was a joy to produce, especially because of the many classic early American popular songs that are so beautifully integrated into this delightful motion picture score.

As with most Metro films of the '30s, '40s, and '50s, the music for FM&MG was recorded with several microphones placed strategically throughout the scoring stage, each creating discrete recordings called "angles" that captured the vocals and different sections of the orchestra. Each angle was then edited, using portions of many different "takes" of each song or score piece. Finally, the edited vocal and orchestral angles were mixed to monaural composite tracks ("comps") in preparation for final use in the film.

Although FM&MG was originally released in monaural, many of the original recording angles have survived, enabling us to mix the majority of selections in true stereo for the very first time. In instances where only comps or limited angles were available for certain performances, these particular selections are offered in monaural. Due to the natural aging process of production elements, the listener will note occasional variations in fidelity. All selections are presented in their original order and my name as they appear in the conductor's score.

Button your high-top shoes, sport your walking cane, and enjoy this musical stroll down memory lane - for you, For Me And My Gal."
