This 85th anniversary edition of the film offers nothing new including the printed extras which have been available in previous releases. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth buying, especially if you don’t already have the film on 4K disc or don’t have the previous releases that include the extras offered here.
The cover art is the same as the 2005 3-disc DVD set, although the logo is different. The focus on the Wicked Witch of the West is most likely to unofficially tie the release to the premiere of the film version of the hit Broadway show “Wicked” on November 22, 2024.

The film was re-released in theaters on January 28, 29, & 31, via Fathom Events and in select theatres nationwide. It was also one of the last films screened at the famous Castro Theatre in San Francisco, California, prior to the theatre’s extensive (and controversial) overhaul into a “multi-event” space.
