This
LP is the first of two known times that the soundtrack to Till
The Clouds Roll By (1946) was paired with the 20th Century-Fox soundtrack
to Gentlemen
Prefer Blondes (1953) (the second pairing is here).
Fox did not have their own soundtrack division, so M-G-M Records stepped up and
released the soundtrack. It appears on many of the "two-fer" and
other series with a variety of other non-Garland M-G-M Soundtracks throughout
the 1950's, 60's, and 70's.
Due to the time constraints of the mid-50's "long playing" records,
this LP leaves off two numbers from the Clouds soundtrack: "Till
The Clouds Roll By" and "Ol' Man River". Obviously, MGM was wise
enough to keep the two Garland tracks as a selling point. Which is also obvious
by Judy's placement in comparison to the other Clouds stars on the album
cover artwork.
