That's Entertainment!

ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

That's Entertainment! This is the film that introduced, or re-introduced, fans to Judy's amazing work with MGM. The film was a huge hit in 1974, amazing critics and film "experts" who thought it would bomb. A public tired of the recession and cynicism of the time embraced the film as a look back at better times. The tag line "Boy, Do We Need It Now" sufficiently explains the film's appeal.

Most of the songs on this album are taken from the M-G-M Records versions. The pre-1946 recordings are taken directly from the film soundtracks. In some instances (most notably "On The Atchison, Topeka & The Santa Fe") the producers tried to make stereo recordings from the separate "stems" (tracks) available from the original recording sessions. Due to the limits of the technology of the time, it was not possible to make true stereo recordings of these tracks. It would take another 20 years before Rhino Records began restoring the soundtracks in true stereo.

The sides on these two records are set up to play in order of sides on a "stackable" record player. The records are stacked, the first side of each record is played, then they're flipped over so the remaining two sides play.
