Judy's second album for Capitol was again
released in conjunction with a TV special. This time, it
was Judy's second TV Special shown live on April 8, 1956
on CBS-TV's "The General
Electric Teather". The show ran for 30 minutes and all the songs
Judy sang on this special are prepresented on this album. "Judy"
peaked at #17 on Billboard's Best Selling Pop Albums chart
and was in Top
40 for five weeks.
The 1989
premiere CD release contains a bonus track of "I'm Old Fashioned" recorded
on 03-26-1956 was not included in the original album release
until the 1989 Captiol CD release. I has since not been
included in any of the subsequent CD releases
aside from a few compilations, most notably "Classic
Judy Garland - The Capitol Years, 1955 - 1965".
Judy originally recorded "Last Night When We Were Young" at
M-G-M for her 1949 film In
The Good Old Summertime. The number was
shot but deleted prior to the film's release. The outtake first appeared on M-G-M Records 1951 compilation album "Judy Garland Sings!" The film footage survives and is on the That's
Entertainment! DVD boxed set.
