This 2-CD set is what is known as a "needle drop" transfer. "Needle drop" means that a (usually) pristine vinyl copy of the album is recorded directly from playing the album on a turntable (hence, the "needle"). That transfer is then remastered for optimum fidelity. The recordings here sound very good, although you will find a much better transfer of "Miss Show Business" via the HD version that was brilliantly remastered and released in 2015.
This release inexplicably
presents Side Two of the soundtrack to A Star Is Born before Side One. It's nice to have the 1953 Columbia singles remastered with modern technology which is so much more advanced that just a decade ago.
It's hard to believe that Capitol hasn't released a Garland album or compilation on CD in a full decade, when in 2007 Capitol/EMI released the 3-CD set "The Very Best of Judy Garland: The Capitol Recordings 1955-1965" that featured three complete albums: "Judy" (1956), "Alone" (1947), and "Judy In Love" (1958) and the rest of Judy's Capitol albums represented with at least one track.
