ABOUT
THE DISC & RECORDINGS:
This special green vinyl edition of the soundtrack was available for one day only: April 19, 2014. The record was produced as part of the annual "Record Store Day" event in participating record stores. Albums, some reissues and some special editions, were pressed and shipped to stores across the United States.
The big selling point for this release, and the producer's lame attempt to get people to purchase the record, was their touting a "newly discovered" audio track of "If I Only Had A Brain" recorded by Ray Bolger and Judy Garland in early October 1938. This recording was NOT "newly discovered" but has been available since the fall of 2009. The track can only be downloaded from the Watertower Music website with a code provided with this LP.
The real pleasure of this LP is the green vinyl and the fact that it's the first time the remastered soundtrack has ever been available in a vinyl format (all other issues have been on CD).
Included inside the sleeve is a full color printed sheet with a track listing, some liner notes, and a few photos.
The Watertower Music soundtracks for the Warner Archive (which is what this is a copy of) are themselves copies of the earlier Rhino Records releases (their Oz soundtrack is a re-release of the 1995 Rhino Records single CD edition).
