Released in 1943, Presenting Lily Mars has become a favorite of Garland fans everywhere. For more detailed information about the making of the film, with tons of photos, check out the special Judy
Room Presenting Lily Mars section.
This
is the only soundtrack album ever released for Presenting
Lily Mars. It's a beautifully packaged gatefold edition
with wonderul pictures "from the Garlandia collection
of Wayne Martin" (see below) .
Martin was the self-proclaimed "number one" Garland
fan having collected Garland memorabilia from the time he
saw her first screen appearances in the mid 1930's. He was
fairly
cose
to Judy, and even recorded several of their phone conversations.
Wayne has since passed away, but several of his phone converstations
with Judy have been traded back and forth between Garland fans.
His massive collection has since been dispersed to several
fans out there.
This particular double album is different from most soundtracks
in that not only does it contain all of the songs as recorded
from the soundtrack, but also the entire soundtrack complete
(dialog and all) from the entire film! This proves to be quite
fun to sit back and listen to, even though the film has since
been released on VHS and DVD.
The soundtrack to Presenting Lily Mars has yet to be officially
released on CD, although most of Judy's pre-recordings can
be heard on the Rhino compilation CD "Judy
Garland - Collector's Gems
from the M-G-M Films", including the outtake finale "Paging
Mr. Greenback".
The sound
quality
on these records is very good. Altogether a beautiful presentation
of the soundtrack of this wonderful film.
All images on this page from the collection of Scott Brogan.
The album opens up showcasing
8 great photos from the film. Click on each side to see details.
