THE DISC & RECORDINGS:
Judy never
made an actual "Christmas Album", unlike today where every
singer makes at least one if not more Christmas or "Holiday"
albums. The only Garland holiday records and CDs are compilations
of her holiday and inspirational recordings for Decca Records
and various television performances. And sometimes "Little
Drops Of Rain" from the Gay
Purr-ee soundtrack. Regrettably,
Judy never recorded any holiday songs for Capitol Records.
Side One of this album features performances from
Episode #15, "The Judy Garland Christmas Show",
taped on December 6, 1963 and aired on CBS TV December 22,
1963. Side two features the Mantovani Orchestra performing
various holiday classics. The only reason we can think of that
Mantovani is included on this album is that the orchestra was
under contract to this label. There is no other "Garland Connection".
