ABOUT
THE DISC & RECORDINGS:
Judy was a fan of composer Lionel Bart ("Olilver!"),
and while she was in London in 1964
she agreed to record these four songs from his latest show "Maggie
May".
These were Judy Garland's last studio recordings for records,
although she would pre-record some material for later TV appearances.
Click here to see the rare "audition record" release of these
songs.
These songs were never officially released in the United States
until
the
wonderful
2002 2-CD compilation
"Classic Judy
Garland
- The
Capitol
Years:
1955
-
1965". However, the version of "There's Only One
Union" on this CD is different than the 1964 singles release.
Some of the songs were previously released by on the following CDs:
1990: The Pastel Productions bootleg CD included "The Land Of Promises".
1995: The EMI CD "The Best Of Judy Garland" included "Maggie
May" & "It's Yourself" - "It's Yourself" in stereo.
1999: The EMI CD "Legends Of The 20th
Century" inluded "Maggie May".
A booleg version was released in the U.S. in the 1970's, but we have no information
on it.
All four songs were also included in the 1982 EMI Spanish LP "Con
Plumas Judy Garland".
