ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

This is it! The ultimate Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland "Let's Put On A Show" soundtrack collection. Rhino Records, and producers Marilee Bradford, Bradley Flanagan along with associate producer John Fricke, really out did themselves with this set. Meticulously put together, expertly annotated, and beautifully packaged, this is probably the best CD soundtrack set Rhino Records has ever released.

Naturally, the set features the premiere release of the complete soundtracks to all four of Judy and Mickey's musicals together. Each film has it's own disc, packed full of outtakes, background scoring, extended versions and extensive supplemental sections. These are the most extensive soundtracks of these films that you're ever going to find.

The set, or "trunk" as it's made to look on the outside (both Mickey and Judy were known to have been "born in a trunk"), includes an amazingly detailed 60 page booklet. This booklet is loaded with photos, essays about each production, synopsis of each story, biographies of Mickey and Judy, and 4 pages (8 side) of color photos and promotional art. Each disc even has it's own photo of the two stars in publicity shots (see below).

The score for Gershwin's Girl Crazy is justifiably famous. And this version is to date the definitive screen version. So much so that Rhino Records released a single disc edition in 1996. The single disc version, while including all of the vocals, does not include all of the orchestra tracks as included in this boxed set.

The "Leo Is On The Air - Holiday Broadcast" heard in the Supplemental Material section of Disc 3 (Babes On Broadway) was originally released by M-G-M in 1940 on a 33 1/3 rpm 12" "The M-G-M Hollywood Reporter" disc distributed solely to radio stations. CLICK HERE to see this rare record.
