ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

Released in 1995, this MGM/UA Home Vido laser disc set features the films Thoroughbreds Don't Cry (1937) and Listen Darling (1938). The bonuses on this set are the alternate audio tracks spotlighting the known M-G-M pre-recording sessions for Listen Darling. Some remixed to stereo!

The set also includes one pre-recording from Thoroughbreds Dont's Cry, the premier release of the outtake "Sun Showers". This beautiful pre-recording is visually accompanied by a video collage of studio photos of Judy from the time period.

Considering that these are two of Judy's little known films, MGM/UA Home Video nonetheless gives them the deluxe treatment with nicely done gatefold packaged featuring some nice photos (see below). A wonderful edition to any Garland collection. And still available on eBay and other auction sites.

The complete "soundtrack albums" to these two films have never been released on LP or CD.

The edited versions of most of the songs are featured on the Rhino Records 2-CD set "Judy Garland - Collector's Gems From The M-G-M Films", as well as "Sun Showers". "Gems" also includes the extended version of "Got A Pair Of New Shoes" from Thoroughbreds Don't Cry. The only CD source for the complete slow version of "Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart" is the out of print Rhino Records boxed set of the complete soundtracks to all three "That's Entertainment!" films.
