DVD Decision 2006: 30 Films in 30 Days!

Due to the overwhelming popularity of Warner Bros.' prior DVD Decision campaigns, Warner Home Video (WHV) is once again empowering film fans to select a new group of films to be released on DVD. This year DVD Decision 2006(TM) is a joint promotion from Warner Home Video and Amazon.com in which movie fans can vote online for 30 catalog candidates from the Warner Bros. Studios library, 10 of which will then be released on DVD. Voting will occur at Amazon.com during the month of June 2006. Film fans can vote for their favorite action & adventure, comedy & musical, or drama films; view trailers and movie stills; and read synopses and customer reviews.

Judy Room note: The only Judy film is "Presenting Lily Mars" (seen at right), however another MGM Musical, "Best Foot Forward" is also nominated. CLICK HERE to see the lists and to vote. You only have until the end of June!!!

THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW, VOLUME 13 ON DVD

This new volume from Geneon features the following episodes:

Episode No. 17 with guests Vic Damone, Chita Rivera, Louis Nye and Ken Murray. Taped on December 20, 1963 and aired on January 19, 1964.

Episode No. 18 with guests Martha Raye & Peter Lawford. Taped on January 14, 1964 and aired on January 26, 1964.

On what would have been Judy's 84th birthday (June 10th), the U.S. Postal Service is honoring Judy with a stamp (see image above). Judy is the 12th in their "Legends of Hollywood" series and it's her first U.S. stamp after the 1989 "Wizard Of Oz" stamp which featured Judy as Dorothy with Toto.

The official launch will be at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 10th. If you're in the New York area on that date, be sure to attend!

VALLEY OF THE DOLLS ON DVD!

Judy was slated to appear as "Helen Lawson" in this 1967 adaptation of the Jacqueline Susann book, but left the film early into production. The film is now a camp classic, and is getting it's premiere DVD release on June 13th in this special edition loaded with extras. These extras include Judy's costume test footage and her pre-recording of her big solo "I'll Plant My Own Tree". No word yet on whether it will be the rare stereo version.

Christie's auction house is auctioning off a lot of Garland items, including her gorgeous green dress from "Easter Parade" (see image at right). CLICK HERE to see all of the items and to order a catalog.

31ST ANNUAL JUDY GARLAND FESTIVAL:
The annual Judy Garland Festival in Judy's birthplace of Grand Rapids, Minnesota begins on June 22nd and goes through the 24th. CLICK HERE for details.
