A
CHRISTMAS CAROL (MGM - 1938)
(Release Date: November 8, 2005)
Judy
Garland did not appear in this film. However, it's listed here
because her 1937 short subject Silent Night is included
as a part of the extras.
Judy recorded and filmed the song "Silent Night" from November 6th
through 8th, 1937 for the official MGM Christmas Trailer. The trailer is obviously
titled "Silent Night" and features Judy singing the song in what
is supposed to look like a traditional church, with a boy's choir behind her.
This DVD is also included in the Warner Home Video boxed set "Warner Bros.
Classic Holiday Collection" (photo at right) which includes Boys Town (MGM
1938) and Christmas In Connecticut (Warner Bros. 1945). The boxed
set was also released on November 8, 2005.
Note: June Lockhart has her film debut in this film as one of Bob Cratchet's
children (Cratchet is played by her father, Gene Lockhart). June would go on
to play Lucille Ballard in the Garland/MGM masterpiece Meet Me In St. Louis.
