Judy Garland Sings

ABOUT THE DISC & RECORDINGS:

This is the first compilation of songs from Judy Garland's MGM films to hit the market.  Judy left MGM in 1950, but that didn't stop MGM Records would get as much mileage out of her popularity as possible, for years to come.  According to Billboard's October 13, 1951 edition, this album was released just two weeks before Judy's concert debut at The Palace Theater in New York on October 16, 1951.  Even before this history making concert appearance, MGM was already marketing their Garland catalog with re-releases of her films, such as Babes in Arms and Meet Me In St. Louis on a double bill at Lowe's State in Manhattan.

This album and its incarnations in the multiple formats of the time (see below) features the premiere release of the outtake "Last Night When We Were Young" from 1949's In The Good Old Summertime.
